Alexandra (she/her) is a Nicaraguan Canadian artist based in Toronto. She has committed her entire life to the art of storytelling. Her performance training has spanned almost two decades through institutions such as The Stratford Festival, Shakespeare Bash’d, Sheridan college, the National Arts Centre, Theatre Gargantua, RAW studios, LB Acting Studios, The Kanata Ballet School and internationally at the Los Angeles Theatre Academy, Second City Hollywood, Theatre Movement Bazaar, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and many more individual artists across borders thanks to zoom!

In her post secondary education, Alexandra invested in her diverse skill set by attending Sheridan College’s Performing Arts Preparatory program, furthering her education in a variety of skills in performance and production. In the midst of the year-lon program, she was invited to the LACC Theatre Academy to audition for their acting conservatory & was accepted on the spot. At 18, Alexandra moved to Los Angeles for the 3 year program & graduated Magna Cum Laude, and with multiple awards & nominations from the Kennedy Centre theatre festival. Her time in theatre school was slightly non traditional in that her class wrote and created as much work as they performed. This contemporary manner of study gave Alexandra the incredible opportunity to not only continue cultivating her skills as a director and choreographer but also as a writer. The latter skill garnered her multiple local awards throughout her time at the conservatory. In her final semester, Alexandra produced, directed & choreographed Start Swimming, an award winning production, at the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival. As well as was hand selected to direct at the Midnight Mission fundraising festival HomewardLA at the age of 21. Making her the youngest director in both festivals that year.

Due to the pandemic, Alexandra is back in Toronto. She is currently taking classes online with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and in a writing residency for play development at First Born Theatre for ‘The Women Who Sold Their Skin’. With a public reading June 2nd .

Alexandra is inspired by Renaissance era thinking: the marriage of art & science. She loves to challenge the status quo & presently is engrossed by the concept of identity & transitions. On a Saturday afternoon you can most likely find Alexandra wandering through an art gallery or creating with a pal in a local cafe. She dreams of being in a Pat Benatar cover band. Due to a rebellious phase she didn’t quite grow out of, her friends call her Alex.
