Lysistrata Vs. Toxic Masculinity

Lysistrata follows the journey of the wives of greek politicians as they withhold sex from their husbands to force the signing of a peace treaty.

Lysistrata Vs. Toxic Masculinity retells this journey & explores the idea of what would happen to Lysistrata if she were flung through time to meet other feminist icons throughout history that have fought against the systems of toxic masculinity.

In this production, Alexandra had the opportunity to not only be the dance & fight choreographer for the show but also be a part of the writing process. She mostly wrote & translated her own scene between Lysistrata and Joan of Arc. Her writing along with her performance earned her an Irene Ryan nomination from the Kennedy Centre American College Theater Festival.

“They want to take away my human right to see the first light in the morning and to see the stars at night. Et pour quoi? Because they are frightened of me?

Because I have no fear of them?”

“I am not afraid… I was born to do this.  I am called to my life, as I think you are called to yours. I cannot control their response, I can only do what I must.”
